Insert a Paper Roll into Valor Terminal?

Paper Insert Demo

  1. Open the Printer Lid
Pull the lever or release latch on the terminal’s paper compartment to lift the lid.

  2. Prepare the Roll
Tear off the start of the thermal paper roll to get a clean leading edge.

  3. Insert the Roll
Place the roll inside so the paper feeds from the bottom of the roll, with the thermal (printable) side facing up as it exits.

  4. Feed & Close
Pull out a couple of inches of paper and close the lid firmly.

  5. Test the Feed
Press the Feed button (sometimes the power button doubles as feed) to ensure the paper advances properly.

  • Confirm the thermal side of the paper is facing the correct direction (down inside the compartment).

  • Make sure the lid is fully closed and latched.

  • Remove any debris inside the printer area.

  • Reboot the terminal and run the test again.

⚠ Still Not Printing
Possible causes include:

  • Faulty or cold thermal printhead

  • Mechanical printer failure

  • Lid or roller misalignment

Service or replacement may be required if issues persist.

Common Printing Issues and What to Do
IssueWhat to Do
No paper feedReopen the lid and reseat the paper roll, ensuring correct orientation.
Paper jamsRemove the jammed paper. Ensure the new paper roll has a clean-cut edge before inserting.
Unclear receiptEnsure the thermal side of the paper faces up and that the paper is thermal grade.
Blank receipts printingUse compressed air to clean the printer, check the roller, and if the terminal uses a battery, ensure it's charged above 50%.

📌 Best Practices

  • Always use recommended paper rolls to prevent printhead damage.
  • Ensure the roll is specifically thermal—non-thermal paper won't print.
  • If unsure which side is thermal, gently scratch the surface with your fingernail. The thermal side will leave a black mark.
  • Load the roll so it unrolls from the bottom, not the top.
  • Store spare rolls in a dry, room-temperature environment.
