Connect a VL300 to a VL100/VL100 Pro?
This article provides step-by-step instructions to connect the VL300 External PIN Pad to your VL100 terminal, enable External PIN Pad Support in the portal.
Connecting the External PIN Pad
To physically connect the VL300 PIN Pad:

Power down the VL100 completely.

Insert the micro-USB connector from the VL300 Y-Cable into the USB1 or USB2 port on the VL100.

Power on the VL100.
⚠️ Note: If the VL300 does not turn on, you may need to enable External PinPad Support via your portal.

Enabling External PinPad Support via the Online Portal
To allow the VL100 to recognize and communicate with the external PinPad, you’ll need to enable the feature in your device settings:

Log in to your Device Management Portal.

Locate your VL100’s EPI number.

Click the Vertical Ellipsis (⋮) next to the device and choose Edit Parameters.

Scroll to the Terminal & Transactions section.

Set Enable External PIN Support to Yes, then click Save.

Perform a Package Download on the VL100 to apply the updated settings
- If the PIN pad communicates Keys not Present, follow the steps below.
- Connect an Ethernet cable to the Ethernet port on the PIN Pad Y-cable.
- Power cycle the PIN Pad by pressing and holding the Power button. This will automatically initiate an RKI Download.
- If the PIN pad communicates Keys not Present, follow the steps below.
💡 Additional Tips
- Always verify cable connections before powering on devices.
- After RKI, test the PinPad to confirm it is communicating with the VL100.
