Connect a QD4 to a QD5 (or QD3) Pin Pad
Overview
This guide explains how to properly connect a QD4 terminal to a QD5 or QD3 pin pad using the included USB and communication cables. Follow the steps below to ensure a successful device-to-device connection.
What You Need
-
QD4 terminal
-
QD5 or QD3 pin pad
-
USB/Ethernet breakout box (included with QD4)
-
Full-size male USB power cable (QD4)
-
Full-size male USB power cable (QD5/QD3)
-
UU communication cable (USB-A to USB-A)
Connection Steps
1. Identify the Cables from the QD4
The QD4 has two key outputs:
-
A small USB/Ethernet breakout box
-
A full-size male USB cable for power
2. Power the QD4
Plug the full-size male USB cable from the QD4 into a power source.
3. Connect the UU Cable
The UU cable is the communication link between the QD4 and the pin pad.
It has two full-size male USB ends:
-
Plug the first USB end into the USB/Ethernet breakout box connected to the QD4.
-
Plug the second USB end into the corresponding USB port on the breakout box attached to the QD5 or QD3.
This establishes communication between the two devices.
4. Power the QD5 or QD3
The QD5/QD3 also has a full-size male USB power cable.
Connect this USB cable to an appropriate power source or adapter and plug it into an electrical outlet.
5. Confirm File Installation
Once both devices are powered and connected with the UU cable, the setup is complete.
As long as the correct files or configurations have been downloaded to the devices, they should communicate successfully without additional steps.
Troubleshooting Tips
-
Ensure all USB connectors are fully seated.
-
Verify that both devices are receiving power.
-
Confirm that the correct software files or parameter downloads have been applied.
-
Try a different USB power adapter if either device does not power on.
-
Replace the UU cable if communication does not initiate.
